Welcome to the Room 44 Book Blog. This is our interactive reading project that the students of the fifth grade at Manor Hill will be working on throughout the 2009-2010 school year. This blog is not, however, intended just for students. Click on the link at the right “Blog Information” to find out all of the details about this project. Happy Reading!

Mr. Eltiste

Thanks for taking a look at my section of the blog. I am a fifth grade teacher at Manor Hill, and this is my twelfth year of teaching. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my wife Jill, our son Mason, and our daughter Ayla. I also enjoy playing basketball and going on backpacking trips. Sometimes, those trips last for an evening, and sometimes they last for a week. I always enjoy taking a good book to read on those long trips, as there are few things more relaxing than reading a book in the Colorado backcountry while a stream trickles nearby. I haven't a been an avid reader for my whole life. This is something that has just started in the past few years for me. My favorite types of books seem to lean towards books that tell a different side of a story that we are all familiar with. For example, I recently finished reading "Fast Food Nation", a book that takes an educated look at how fast food companies have changed American food and lifestyles. I've also enjoyed reading "A People's History of the United States 1492- Present, " and I'm currently reading "Failed States" by Noam Chomsky. As for kid's books, I love "George's Marvelous Medicine," "Danger In Quicksand Swamp," "Skeleton Creek," and "The Giver."I hope you enjoy reading comments on my secion of the blog.

This book was on the Mark twain list two years ago. It's about a girl named catherine and she has a brother with autisim named David. She has a hard time understanding that her brother needs a lot more needs than her because of his disability.

Mr.Eltiste
I think you should read to your class a book called Eragon. It is long but it is awesome. Or should suggest The Garden Of Eve. It is a Mark Twain so you should read it. I hope you will reply to this. (Don't Listen to what Lauren says about the videos. Alex didn't tell her anything about it and I doubt that she found it either.)

Mr.E,
It's second quarter!I'm loving LMS and all of my teachers. Right now I'm reading Shark Girl By Kelly Bingham. It's about a girl named Jane Who gets attacked by a shark and gets her right arm ambutated. She's all over the news being to known as Shark Girl. This book is off the Truman nominees list and really like this book. This book is aimed more for older kids because of the "word choice" in the book. Also the most important fac t of all, it's more of a GIRL type of book.

Happy Halloween,

Mr.Eltistie,
I read Ghost In The Machine before all of you. I got it Two days after it came out! HA! I did not scream at all. But sadly, Skeleton Creek is a only two book series. But they might to a new thing for like Henry and how he escaped and if he survived. Now I am currently reading Hunt for the Seventh. It is creepy. You should read it.

Also I am reading Fablehaven, and currently finished a book called Al Capone does my Shirts. It is Good Mr.Eltistie You should read it. I have also read a good book series called The 39 Clues.
